Acumatica for Agriculture and Agribusiness
Agriculture breaks the assumptions most ERP setups are built on. We set Acumatica up for how the business actually runs.
Why agriculture is different
Volume arrives in a season, not a steady flow. The same product is bought by weight and sold by the case. Prices move with a market. Several entities share land, equipment and people. A generic Acumatica configuration handles none of that well. A deliberate one handles all of it.
The problems we fix most
Traceability from source to customer. Lots that carry their grower, field or receiving date, and a trace that runs both directions in minutes.
Units of measure that do not convert cleanly. Bins to pounds to cases, and catch weight. We design the conversions and test them against real receipts before anyone relies on them.
Seasonal volume. Purchasing, inventory and cash planning built around the harvest. Replenishment that does not assume steady demand.
Commodity and contract pricing. Price lists and contracts that update without someone retyping them.
Grower and supplier settlements. Settlement statements built from receipts, deductions and advances inside Acumatica, not in a spreadsheet.
Multi-entity and multi-location operations. Farming, packing and sales in separate entities with clean intercompany and consolidated reporting.
Perishable inventory. Expiry dates, first-expired picking and visibility of what has to move this week.
Cost by crop, field or lot. Project accounting or subaccounts used deliberately, decided before go-live because it cannot be backfilled.
How AI helps in agriculture
We have built these in an agricultural business, not just designed them. Sales reps created and submitted orders into Acumatica by typing a sentence into a chat tool. Inventory and financial reconciliation across the ERP, the warehouse and outside systems moved from a manual, multi-team spreadsheet process to automated matching with discrepancies sorted by likely cause. It surfaced a recurring posting bug the manual process had never caught.
From the record
We ran business systems from the inside for a multi-entity grower and distributor for more than four years. The work, in order:
A full Acumatica re-implementation, replacing a failed environment and an underperforming partner.
Warehouse automation: barcode receiving and picking, label printing and bin location mapping.
Reconciliation rebuilt across the ERP, the warehouse and outside systems, then automated with AI.
Security roles cut by about half, with segregation of duties enforced for audit.
The systems around the ERP: CRM and sales engagement synced to Acumatica for products, orders and invoices, a transportation management system for deliveries, and a close management tool for finance.
Reporting moved to a modern data warehouse and Power BI.
IT governance stood up: a steering committee, change control, a service desk and written policies, including one for generative AI.
