Manufacturing hub

Acumatica manufacturing help, from people who configure the screens.
MRP that does not plan what you expect. Costs that post at zero. Production documents that block month-end. Most of it comes down to one field.

Why it happens in Acumatica

The Manufacturing Edition is driven by master data. Item class decides how demand flows. The BOM and its revision decide cost. An item set up wrong will quietly break planning three levels down, and it will look like a system limitation. It almost never is.

How we work a manufacturing problem

  1. Reproduce it in a sandbox with a real order.
  2. Trace it to the item class, the BOM, the order type or the setting.
  3. Fix it, then test the step everyone assumes is working.
  4. Write the SOP with the person who does the job, and get it signed.

MRP and make-to-order

A sales order created the top-level production order, and demand never reached the sub-components. MRP was not broken. The sub-components were in the wrong item class. Once they were moved, demand flowed to every level.

BOMs, revisions and engineering change

When engineering and the ERP disagree on the current revision, cost and planning are both wrong. We set up revision control and effectivity so a change in CAD or PDM becomes a controlled change in Acumatica.

Outside processing and subcontract

An outside-processing order posted at zero cost. Earlier orders had carried cost on the item master, so the SOP's cost step had never actually been exercised. We test the step everyone assumes is working. The SOP is now approved.

Customer-owned and consigned material

Handled inside Acumatica, not in a spreadsheet: zero-dollar intake, marked as customer property, held in a designated location, consumed by BOM-driven demand, with availability visible to planning. We confirmed the design with the customer in the room.

Lot, serial and revision traceability

What you can trace later is decided by lot class settings at receipt. We set them so a trace runs in minutes in both directions.

Part numbering standards

The usual objection to a part-number standard is audit history. We tested it: renaming an Inventory ID keeps the full transaction history. The objection went away.

RMA, return and repair

Order types and return reasons built to match how repairs actually move through your shop.

Production and month-end

Month-end was blocked twice by stuck production documents. Both were released. A work-order reversal was tested click by click in the sandbox before finance was asked to sign off.

How AI helps in manufacturing

Item master and BOM review at volume: finding the items in the wrong class, the BOMs with no cost, the revisions that do not match engineering. A knowledge layer over SOPs so an operator can ask how to do something and get your procedure.

What you have at the end

Correct configuration, test evidence and signed SOPs. Every phase has a one-line finish line your CFO can verify.

Twenty minutes. No deck. No pitch.
